The Indianapolis Colts plugged their hole at backup quarterback Thursday, claiming former Tennessee Titans signal-caller Charlie Whitehurst off waivers, per the team.
The Titans released Whitehurst on Wednesday to make room for running back David Cobb, who returned to the active roster after missing the first nine weeks with a calf injury. Whitehurst, 33, joined Tennessee in 2014 after a two-year stint with the Chargers in San Diego. He posted career highs in passing yards (1,326) and touchdowns (seven) while appearing in seven games last season.
