Colts vs. Texans: Can Indy Compete in AFC South Race?

The Indianapolis Colts have been the talk of the NFL this week, as star quarterback Peyton Manning was forced to undergo cervical fusion surgery that will keep him out for a minimum of two-to-three months. Now everyone is wondering what will become of the Colts' season.
Without Manning in the lineup it is extremely hard to see how the Colts could possibly make the playoffs, let alone win the AFC South, especially with the Houston Texans primed for a big year.
Last season, with Manning in the lineup, the Colts averaged 380.8 total yards per game (fourth in the NFL), and an NFL-best 288.1 passing yards per game. Unfortunately the running game was a dismal 29th in the league with 92.7 yards per game.
